Thank you for reading Jasini’s Thoughts and Ideas
Sometime last year (probably between February and March), we saw this Dash Go egg devil in a thrift store—still in its box, even.
It was cheap enough that we made a spontaneous purchase (along with some bowl sets), figuring that even if we didn’t like it, we wouldn’t be out much. We don’t have many single-use appliances (except for the ones we do, of course). From the timing and type of wear on the egg devil, we assumed it had been received as a Christmas gift, tried a few times, and then given to the thrift store.
I believe since we’ve gotten it, we have used more than twice a week, on average. Not only does it take the guesswork out of hard-boiled eggs (I previously would either burn them or only have them half-cooked), but it also has set ups to make either poached eggs (the divided red dish in front) or “omelets” (the larger red dish towards the back).
I’ve frequently been making myself poached eggs on toast (toast cooked separately) for breakfast. My husband prefers to use the omelet pan to have a two-three egg omelet, with sausage or pepperoni, and some other ingredients. My husband also likes being able to make deviled eggs with it, with the pastry bag and tip (not shown) which came with it.
It cooks with steam. You pour the suggested amount of water from the little measuring cup (adjust for preferred hardness) into the base, put in the red egg platform (shown with eggs in it), the dish (if required) on top of that, and then put in the eggs. Place the lid on top, and turn it on. It’ll buzz when it runs out of water to steam.
Be careful taking the lid off. The little hole labeled “Hot Steam” isn’t kidding"!
We’ve notice that the hard-boiled eggs we cook in there tend to peel nicely, especially if we peel them fresh out of the ice water cooling bath. And the yolks do start turning green if it’s a few days between when you cook them, and when you eat them, but not immediately, which half the time they were, when I actually cooked eggs the right amount of time, and didn’t either burn them or leave them raw.
One of the best impulse purchases we’ve made.

We have one that does a dozen at a go, I love it!
