This is the time of year that everyone is reminded to be Thankful. (Being thankful to whom for what is more seldom brought up.)
This morning I spent two hours out in the rain and mud helping my husband take care of some things outside that had fallen apart during the night rain.
In spite of all that, yes, I am thankful for my husband, for my family, for having a house and yard, even if I have to go outside in the cold wet mud from time to time.
We will be having friends over for Thanksgiving. I am thankful for having friends, and for having an abundance of food that we can share, even as we go through rough times financially. There are so many things that we have, some of which didn’t exist 50 years ago, but now are commonplace.
The world, like always, is going through turmoil. And the media has well honed the selective outrage machine. But it is important to every once in a while to sit back and count my blessings, and remember everything that I have been given, in spite of the hustle and bustle of life.
And remember the One who made it all possible.
