Thank you for reading Jasini’s Thoughts and Ideas
We’ve moved from the Best Western that was about a mile from the house (within walking distance) to an Extended Stay America which is 10 minutes further north, making a longer drive for anything we want to do.
It’s about half the price of the Best Western, and has several other things going for it, including a kitchenette, with cupboards, a full-sized fridge, a kitchen sink (as well as the bathroom one), and a stovetop as well as a microwave. Some not so good things are that the breakfast is grab-and-go, with the grab selections sometimes being good, and sometimes a little more than just coffee.
Our room is on an interior corner, so that instead of the two large windows most rooms have, there is only one. And the rooms are constructed with a bend in it, so light from the kitchen area does not fall directly on the bed. Both of which mean that the bed area tends to be fairly dark if the side lights are on. Perfect for our nightshift working son to get some sleep during the day.
About a week ago, we found the above signs up on all the exterior doors, and wondered what it meant. Though we don’t have any intention of bare-ing with it. Turns out that it is at least starting out as: (Everything I’ve seen done so far has been in the halls. If they’re working on any of the rooms, I haven’t seen it.)
Painting all the doors. From the original slate blue:
To a rather sharp looking black:
They are also painting the walls, but since the color is basically the same, there’s no point in posting pictures.
They are also taking up the carpets.
I assume that they’ll also be putting down carpet eventually.
It doesn’t seem to me that painting and recarpeting should take a month and a half, more like two, possibly three weeks. Even when I saw things like this on the floors.
I don’t know what to think of this fix though:
From what I’ve seen, it looks like they’ll cement over the top of this again. I just can’t imagine it lasting.
I think we’ll be here at least through the New Year, but I sincerely hope we’ll be back in our home well before January 31.
