The next week or so we’re expected to get about 8 inches of snow (three inches today and tomorrow, more later in the week). Which is a lot for the Kansas City area. Since my schedule involves driving an hour most nights, well after dark, and that seems to be when this storm will be strongest, I am, shall we say, concerned. I have enough trouble deciphering where the lines are in the dark in the heavy rain. Especially when the street lights are on, making the whole road shiny. Snow-covered roads are worse.
Fortunately, we got new tires this fall, so I’m less concerned about slippage than I was last year. No, I won’t drive faster than the roads will allow. I’ll be careful. Probably excessively careful. Especially since there are a lot of bridges/overpasses on my route. No matter how hard they work over the highways, the bridges are always worse during an active snow event.
I also will be going out when the traffic is considerably lighter, unless, of course, a game lets out while I’m on the road. And I don’t keep enough track of sports events enough to know if there’s a game tonight or not.
Probably not.
I am not really worried. More concerned.
Times like this do make me wonder where the difference is between “pondered” and “worried”.
This being Kansas City, it doesn’t matter how much snow we get (though storms right after each other can upset things). Within three days, the snow will be gone, except for north slopes, and the corners of parking lots.
