Thank you for reading Jasini’s Thoughts and Ideas
This has been another one of those weeks where I planned to get a lot of stuff done, and ended up without energy or motivation to do any of it. I spent most of the week in bed, for a lot of the time, which isn’t nearly as much fun as it seems to be.
Some of it appears to be health issues, which I really don’t know what is going on. Other parts of it are motivation and momentum.
One thing is the dishes. If I wash them every day, or even nearly every day, I can stay caught up. if I don’t, then I get behind, and start looking at the piles and get demotivated to do any more really fast.
It doesn’t help that we currently have someone staying with us who keeps trying to help by washing the dishes, in spite of us begging him not to.
For one thing, dishes tend to come out dirtier than when he started. We’re talking thick coats of grease on drinking glasses. Like, how? So first I have to check all the dishes in the drainer, and make sure that I only put away the clean ones (usually stuff I had washed previously that hadn’t been put away yet). Today I found dishes in the drainer that not only were greasy, but also had food debris still attached to them. The food debris makes more sense, but still, why put them in the drainer if they haven't been washed? And if they were washed, didn’t you even look at them?
But worse is his tendency to fill both sides of the sink with soapy water and dirty dishes, and then go off and leave them. The sink is then unusable for anything else. Like rinsing out the milk containers before putting them in the recycling.
So I walk into the kitchen, thinking that I’ll do some dishes, and then discover that I have to empty the sink, the full sink before I can even start. As tired as I was this week, I looked at the sink, and went back to bed. For two days.
We knew that when this person came to stay that he liked cleaning. He really liked cleaning. Which is fine, I’m not that great a cleaner, and, well, things have to get done. We didn’t realize he was so bad at it. Nor that “cleaning” and “reorganising, whether you need it or not” were in the same category. We had to find a lot of stuff that we had carefully put away, and was no longer where we had put it. This included some delicate stuff that somehow ended up in the bottom of a box with heavy things lying on top of them. Fortunately nothing broke. Also getting into a closet that we had told him he was absolutely not to get into (it’s not our stuff), but he got in, put other stuff in there, and scattered the stuff that had been in there out among both our stuff and his. We think we’ve gotten everything sorted out again, and gave him yet another talk about boundaries.
But all this on top of not feeling well to begin with really threw me off of writing this week, though I have several ideas I really need to get down. So, I promise I’ll try to keep from falling behind again. I’ve been trying to set myself a schedule, and keep to it, but that’s easier said than done. At times the universe seems to be conspiring against me.
P.S. —Kill me now. He’s about to go cook some kielbasa.

Maybe have them do Yard cleaning instead? Less to mess up there. And you likely need it done, anyway. So sorry for the aggravation.
