Thank you for reading Jasini’s Thoughts and Ideas
Note: Apparently Bing cannot understand when I want sunshine behind me, and the storm in front of me.
We’ve been having a bunch of storms recently (including one the other night, when the tornado sirens were going off just as I wanted nothing more than to head to bed).
So, we checked the weather this morning before I headed out to do my usual morning run. Sunshine all day, and high of 78.
However, once I got going, driving in the sunshine, I could see a wide band of dark clouds stretching out in front of me from horizon to horizon. It didn’t start raining until I was almost at my destination, then it rained hard most of the way back. Apparently it also hailed at home, though I didn’t see it on the way.
But as far as we could tell, the storm came out of nowhere, not even with enough warning to be predicted.
The last few months the highway has been under construction in multiple places along our route. It hasn’t been bad enough (usually) to justify taking the alternate route. For quite some time, they had been working on one of the exits, which didn’t really upset traffic too much, until they got to the point where they directed all the traffic up that exit. Obviously they had been building up that exit to take all wear of the whole highway traffic. From the spacing of it, I’m guessing that they’re planning to drop a bridge. But that hasn’t occurred yet, though I can see them working on that bridge.
One thing that almost catches me every time is that there is a place where the exit curves slightly, but the signs over the highway are straight ahead, so if you are not paying attention it would be too easy to just keep going straight, and plow into the back side of the guardrail for the highway. Especially in the dark. They really need to put in a guardrail, or even just reflectors on poles right there. In fact, I’m surprised that there hasn’t been (as far as I know) anyone crossing over even before the road construction.
