This is the fourth book in the Gordian Divison series, which I previously reviewed here:
Gordian Division
Recently I got the first three books of David Weber’s and Jacob Holo’s Gordian Division series out from the library (on Kindle).
Like I thought, this is still a buddy cop book. I am enjoying continuing to follow these characters.
The first two pages of the book are an advertisement (just text, I’m afraid) for the tournament, encouraging people to try out. I rather wish it were real. Of course the people who make it to the finals (in both universes) are professional gamers.
In this book, our police team goes from Saturn to Luna to watch the tournament. They hope to also hit the famous Luna beaches on this fully terraformed moon. But before they get there, one of the finalists in the tournament receives a death threat. And since she is from the other universe, there is a question of jurisdiction about which security team will handle it. Our team having members from both universes solves that problem neatly, and can get the two teams working together.
There is a lot of action in the book. They even jump over to the other universe in their investigation. (And the unterraformed Luna. Both have their own form of terrorists, though.) But in spite of the subtitle, the only actual murder that happens (not just attempted) is completely unrelated to the plot.
The sequel hook in the last couple of pages indicates that the next book may take place in the other universe.
I am looking forward to reading it.
(Note: I took out this book from my local library, and received no compensation for writing this review.)
