Thank you for reading Jasini’s Thoughts and Ideas
Well, we spent most of the morning at the hospital yesterday, in scheduled surgery to get my husband’s finger going from looking like this:
to this: (no, I don’t know why the second image is flipped.)
We arrived there about 8:45. They took him back around 9:15, and we were out of there by 1. They gave him a nerve block for his arm, then knocked him out to do the surgery. He was still a bit loopy when I went back to watch him finish waking up, but by the time we got home, he was pretty much back to normal. Though the nerve block may not have fully worn off yet.
On the other hand, the morning wore me out entirely, though I did nothing but sit there and wait, doing a bit of reading and editing. We got home, I ate some lunch, then collapsed on the bed until it was time to take our son to work.
Other things I’ve been thinking of lately:
There is an ad that comes up frequently on my Pandora stations where two women are talking about how Tide Pods is a much better deal than the bargain brand, because Tide Pods only have 12% water, while the bargain brand is 80% water.
Ok, even taking their numbers as true, then obviously the best deal of all would be buying the power version.
But that is not how you determine which is the better buy. To do that, you would have to look at the price of each, plus how many loads each one does. That would be the basic price per load to tell you which is a better deal financially.
Then you add in factors such as ease of use, type of clean, other things that are important to you to decide what you are going to buy, even if it turns out not to be the cheapest.
Speaking of ads, does this strike anyone else as being threatening?
Between the font and the words (and the related one of “Someone is always listening”) I don’t know if this is supposed to be comforting or terrifying.
Probably just me. The other two in the series (“You matter” and “There is hope” aren’t nearly as Orwellian.
I keep telling myself that I need to get back to listening to the Bible on my commute. I stopped when I had several days of not feeling well. I really need to start up again. It hasn’t been a total loss, since I’ve been listening to music again on Pandora.
Speaking of music, I had a station of soft country that I liked listening to, but hadn’t for months. I’ve been listening again the past few days, and I haven’t heard one yet that I knew from before. None of my “thumbs up” ones, especially.
Also, I usually can tell if I’m listening to Kermit, Ernie, or Rowlf, but not always. (One of my other stations tends to be more children’s music. Deal.)
