I understand why you didn't want another dog. I didn't get another one after I lost my Jesse in '22. I want to be able to take little weekend trips, and not have to worry about boarding a dog. Honestly, I didn't want another cat, either, but when my across the street neighbor passed away, I took his in. His family was going to take her to the pound, and it is a kill shelter. I couldn't let that happen.
I can totally understand the reason to not want to have a pet after a very loved one passes away and you get sort of used to not having one around. Now that my Furby passed away, my son has been bugging in earnest for us to get a dog or a cat. (Especially a cat.).
